LOCATION:  Syria is situated on the crossroads of three continents, Europe, Asia and Africa

LAND:   Syria has an area of 185180 sq Km and 2413 Kms of boundaries of  which 183 Km is coastline of the
  Mediterranean Sea.

POPULATION:  The population of Syria is about 19.9 million, out of which 65.5% are under 25 years of age, 3.5
   million are students.

The Syrians are well known for their distinguished hospitality, generosity, and friendly disposition.

CLIMATE:  Syria has more than 240 days of endless sunshine through the year, along with a moderate climate,     
  makes a visit possible at any time of year.

LANGUAGE:  Arabic is the official language, although English and French are also spoken.

FOOD AND DRINK:    The Syrian food has its own special oriental taste with a lot of variety, European dishes are
also served. Alcoholic and soft beverages are available in most restaurants and cafes. 

 IMPORT LIMITS:       Free import (irrespective of age of the passenger) 200 cigarettes, 1 pint of spirits, 30 grams
of perfume for personal use, reasonable gifts.

WHAT TO WEAR:      We suggest, in spring and autumn wear lightweight woollen  

                                garments, in summer, light cottons or linens and                  

                                sunhat/headscarf, and in winter heavyweight woollen 

                                garments with overcoat.
